"Down to Earth"

"Down to Earth" is a single and part of the soundtrack album WALL-E, sung, written and produced by Peter Gabriel featuring The Soweto Gospel Choir; the music was composed by Peter Gabriel and Thomas Newman.

The song has been nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song at the 66th Golden Globe Awards and the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 81st Academy Awards. It won the Grammy for Best Original Song from a Motion Picture.

Man, I love that song, and the movie.

I do wish they'd release a vid of the closing credits and the great drawings/wall paintings at the end of the movie. Everyone in the theatre stood up to leave, saw what was happening on the screen, and just stood there, enthralled, while this song played.

Gotta love Peter Gabriel. I might have watched the Academy Awards if he'd performed this. Say what you will about Disney/Pixar -- they make great movies. This one was particularly moving and sweet.

Those closing credits are really neat. The rebuilding of civilization!
